The Crooked River

John Cramp, Joe Stumpfel, Jesse Becker and I paddling in Smith Rock State Park

The Crooked River is a Class IV river, that is only "in" every so often. The required flow is 2,000 + cfs, and it relies on dam release for water. Last weekend, flows were primo, and a group from Hood River decided to rally down for the day to get us 16 miles of Crooked Whitewater!

The Rapid known as #1 (American Whitewater)

Wap-De-Doodle: One of the larger rapids of the run (Oregonkayaking.net)

The long hike-out of Crooked River Canyon (American Whitewater)

Hope to see you this weekend at the Northwest Creeking Competition!
